Such applications generate a need for developing novel mathematical methods in processing and analyzing complex datasets and data sources. During the last decade machine learning and predictive modelling techniques have in this regard occupied a prominent role, as a novel tool kit for knowledge discovery in large, high-dimensional and noisy data.
